Victoria Reed: The Next Generation Art Alchemist! โจ๐จ
"I turned my pain into pixels, my tears into textures, and now... I curate dreams."
Let me take you back to where it startedโ a cramped attic room in Berlin, and a little used laptop that only sometimes flickered to life. At the time, I was just a broke art student, surviving subsisting on instant noodles and stolen WiFi. I was drowning under galleries telling me my work was "totally too chaotic, too raw," and the rest! (Funny enough, those same pieces now sell for 5-figures when listed as "unfiltered genius." ๐)
But chaos was all I knew to be. What was my childhood like? A kaleidoscope of instability. My mother; a single mom of three, worked three jobs and moved me to 12 different cities before I turned 18. Art was my escape room, my rebellion. As a kid, I'd draw on napkins, train tickets, or even my own arms if no paper was available! Then came the darkest chapter, a toxic relationship that left me homeless, my work's "portfolio" burned because of jealousy. (Yes, literally burned. Some people cannot handle a firefly becoming a flame.) ๐ฅ
Down and out became my muse. I sold the last of designer boots (1st birthday present from him, ugh) just so I could buy a Wacom tablet. I was sleeping on couches, learned to code and crying most nights in between panic attacks. Then I was slammed by viral lightning. My first NFT drop "Scars in RGB," sold out in 47 seconds! Just like that, the "too chaotic", girl, was crowned the queen of digital surrealism, collabing with Gucci and mentoring a-whole bunch of artists who DM'd me (often sharing their own horror stories) at 3 AM. (I answer every. Single. One.) ๐
Today? Iโm incredibly obsessed with the art + tech activity and seeing what develops from the glitches of AI that provide a feeling of dรฉjร vu, and how the color of your heartbeat changes in the VR galleries. But I will never ever forget; my attic, the hunger, the burn. Thatโs why %20 of everything I make goes to mental health programs for artist, because art shouldn't cost you your sanity... even if mine was the cover charge. ๐๏ธ
P.S. If you reading this today and your "now' feels like my "then," don't hesitate to slide into my DMs. Let's turn your wounds into wonders! โจ
