My story begins in a tiny apartment above a failing bakery, where the scent of burnt croissants mixed with the metallic tang of my first DIY bioprinter. I was 19, broke, and utterly obsessed. While my classmates partied, I stayed up until 3 AM splicing code and crying over contaminated petri dishes. Failure was my muse.

One night, after my 47th attempt to print a viable capillary network, I collapsed onto the lab floor (which was just my kitchen table, let’s be real). The printer hummed like a dying cicada, and I—covered in hydrogel and existential dread—whispered to the universe: "Is this even possible?"

Turns out, yes. But not without scars.

Blood, Sweat, & Silicon
